Elizabeth's Amish Buggy Ride

We also learned a little bit about the Amish by taking an Amish buggy ride on a rainy Thursday afternoon... we found Abe's Buggy Rides in Bird-in-Hand, PA and negotiated an educator's discount for a 4.5 mile buggy tour. Here is Abe hitching up the horse...
We passed by beautiful Amish farms...
And the rain didn't bother us at all...
The Amish always have such good-looking horses!
Love their barns! They look so neat and tidy...
Here's a one-room schoolhouse...
It's raining...

This buggy ride was so peaceful, even though at times cars were anxious to zoom around us.
The house below dates back to the 1700's.
Amish houses often built additions on to the main house as aging parents then move into the smaller house and the main house becomes occupied by the younger (and growing) family...

This is what our buggy looked like...

And that was our Amish tour! A great afternoon learning about a different culture...
