Lili's Christening

Lili was almost a year old when she was christened, and I have to admit I was chastised by Father Kelly for waiting so long. But when you consider that we moved to DE when she was only 7 weeks old, I think we did remarkably well!

Elizabeth in DE

I think Elizabeth was about 4 years old here-- John, Elizabeth, and Ed.
Even when she was a baby she was such a prankster! Here she is-- pretending to be asleep in the grass!
She was 3 years old here.

Christmas Photos

Every year we used to take a Christmas photo for our Christmas cards. because we lived far from many of our family and friends, we always tried to get the family (or as many as were available) in the picture... no doubt I'll be updating these as I find more around the house in various drawers and boxes... I do remember this... it wasn't easy getting everyone to cooperate! It would take a whole roll of pictures and about an hour of shooting before everyone finally had enough! Most of the time this wound up being  a painful exercise with tempers flaring! Looking back, I'm so glad that I persisted... it was sort of like making everyone take medicine-- this was much like a mother's lament: "you may not enjoy this but you'll thank me later!"
 1991

1993 (?)
For quite a few years we'd go out to Pennsylvania and hunt for our Christmas tree on a tree farm. This particular year it was bitter cold and windy, and everyone was quite cranky, including Ed! This was the year, when, as we kept walking further and further to find our "perfect" tree, Ed came out with a statement that has become part of family history: "The further we go down the hill, the further we have to come back up the hill."

This was the year when Michael had had his car accident. It was amazing that he survived. We were blessed! He was still on crutches but didn't want to stand with them in this photo.

1997 (I think!)

Hmmm...not sure about this one. I'll have to ask the kids to see if they remember... it may have been 2003...

Wow! This one is from another age-- about 1988-1989 or so-- at the Naval Academy. Phillip, me with Sophia, Richard, and Michael.

Birthday

This was somebody's birthday but I can't remember whose it was! So sorry!
From left to right: Ed (you can tell he likes to be photographed!); Michael and in front of him, Lili; Sophia; and Phillip.
Hmmm-- it may have been Lili's birthday.

Michael with Phillip and Sophia

This was so cute-- Micheal was trying to keep both Phillip and Sophia looking at the camera so that I could snap this photo. Michael was such a cute redhead!
All of my kids had such cute baby cheeks!
This was taken in Farmington Hills in 1987.

St. Patrick's Day Snow

Just look at this face!!! What's not to love?
We had an overnight snow and so all the schools are closed (the benefit of working in education), so I had a chance to play in the snow with my Fawnie girl (in between doing work and dissertation work) and here's what she looked like with snow on her snout.
It was a heavy snow, but just powdery enough for Fawn to enjoy!

Family Photo

This is one of our few entire family snapshots-- this was taken around 1998-9 at Gary's wedding in Louisville. Elizabeth was about 3-4 years old.
John was such a devoted father to Elizabeth!
From left to right: Phillip, John, Lili, me, Richard (behind me), Sophia holding Elizabeth, Ed, and Michael.
Seeing the graininess of this picture makes me wish I had taken up photography sooner. Sigh...

Phillip's Christening in Kentucky

After getting permission from our parish St. Fabian in Farmington Hills, we were able to have Phillip christened at St. Therese's in Louisville, the same church where Ed was christened as a baby. Shown in this photo are (from left to right): Ed's brother Gary holding Sophia, Ed's father, Me holding Phillip in our family heirloom christening gown made by my mother, Ed's brother-in-law Lonnie (Mary's husband), in front of Lonnie is Michael, John, and then Ed's mother and Lonnie's daughter Erin in the foreground. This was 1987.

South Carolina Vacation

This photo was talken around 1985. John was at Indiana University then. This was also the time in his life when he was focused on physical fitness and weight lifting.
Here are John and Michael examining the Spanish moss on these trees.

Summer 1977- Muskegon

Here I am with three hooligan boys! I was pregnant with Michael at the time-- this was taken on Dad's boat going out the channel of the Muskegon harbor.
From left to right: Me, John behind me, Christopher (my little brother), and lying in my lap, Richard.
We all loved sailing!

Here is our family in Farmington Hills, MI.
