Hockessin Needs A Coffee Shop!

Hockessin needs a coffee shop!
The only place that used to be the local coffee shop hangout was closed much of the summer for remodeling under new ownership. I was glad because I hoped that the new owner would at least install some fans or a system to take away the smell of food cooking-- which always lingered on my clothes when I left the place.
But, this morning's after-mass visit to The Perfect Cup was disappointing. -- The remodel wasn't much-- at least not visible to the public eye... furniture was rearranged and now the best feature, a window looking outside is almost blocked by a beverage cooler and some sort of paper counter.  There was still the smell of food-- so I guess they didn't install the new exhaust system the owner told me a few months ago they planned to install. The bare, mint green walls don't help much either. Not only have the prices gone up by at least ten percent, but they did away with The Perfect Cup's best feature--- the coffee counter where patrons could grab their own cup of coffee!
Having to wait in line at the cash register for a fresh cup of coffee or having to ask for water when this place clearly has no wait-staff has destroyed the best feature The Perfect Cup was known for-- it's self-serve coffee island and the variety of wonderful, flavored coffees! My question to the owner is this: Did those second cups of coffee really make you lose revenue? Keep in mind that, as I mentioned earlier, this place has no wait-staff. It is a coffee shop! Or should I say, is was a coffee shop?
The menu is nothing to write home about. More expensive prices and smaller portions-- as one online reviewer said, you could really just get a great sandwich at Wawa. I wish I could say that I'll return to the Perfect Cup again after they have gotten their act together, but actually, this may very well have been my last time. Like I said, Hockessin needs a coffee shop!!!

  1. There is a great new place in Kennett Square if you are willing to drive 10 minutes. It is called Nourish and it is located at The Market at Liberty Place at 148 West State Street. Fran
