With all that's happened lately I just had to get out for a lovely walk in the neighborhood today! The temps were in the fifties and the sun was shining- so NOT a day to stay indoors ! Fawn made it as far as the neighbor 's driveway, but then insisted on greeting their dig and sniffing their territory. When she saw Phil pull out in my car that was it- she headed back home with no intention of going walking- so I was left to fend for myself (not unusual)! Here's a little brook bubbling over with thawing snow...

Summer Family Photo in Farmington Hills
Here are Ed and the kids in the summer of 1988. I was pregnant with Lili so that's why she's not in the photo. Shown left to right: Richard, Michael, Ed holding Phillip, Sophia, and John. What a handsome family!

Remembering Different Times...
These pictures are from a different time long ago, and yet not so very long ago...or so it seems. The boys lived in Indiana and weren't used to seeing so much snow. We loved to go sledding... and they never tired of it.
Ed had taken up skiing and taught me how to ski (although I never got very far beyond the snowplow stage!), we were living in Michigan, so when we had the boys, Ed was very excited to teach them how to ski as well. They took to it luck ducks to water!
It's amazing how we could spend the whole day out in the snow and still not be tired! Of course, the boys never tired!!!
It's best to remember the joyful times.

Snowpocalypse 2014!
It has arrived! After all those dire warnings and snow fatigue (that's a new term being bandied about in the media), skeptics now have to admit that the weather forecasters got this one right!
Ed's enjoying his snow blower immensely!
After two winters of being parked in the garage, it's certainly gotten a workout this winter!
Fawn enjoys looking on...
It's so nice to have a son around to help clean off my car...
This pose is for Fawns mommie-- are you watching Sophia?
Shoveling out the end of the driveway near the curb is the worst! That's where the hard snow has accumulated from street plowing... thank goodness for Phillip!
My job today? Making a hearty beef stew in between dissertation work (taking advantage of the off-time!) and making hot chocolate for the boys!

Winter Walk
My chest cold has moved into my head and I've barely been upright this week! So today Fawn and I went for a short winter walk. The temps were around forty-- this seemed absolutely balmy after the single digits of earlier this week. The walk reminded me that winter can look pretty!
